We first met in Dublin in 2011 at a mutual friends birthday but it wasn’t until two years later and a quick swipe right that we started talking and eventually started dating. We were together a year before Jack had to move to the UK for work. We decided to give long distance a go and spent a year traveling back and forth to see each other before I eventually moved over to be with Jack. In May 2017, we were away with friends in South Africa for a wedding when Jack decided to go diamond shopping. Completely unaware to me, Jack was able to hide the diamond until we got home where he got my dream ring specially designed.

On the UK August bank holiday, we went on one of our normal yet favourite walks with our beloved furry baby, Stella. Little did I know Jack had not planned for this to be a ‘normal’ walk. With it being one of the hottest days of the year, we took a break and sat down overlooking Bristol City. Jack then gave me the best surprised of my life: getting down on one knee and popping the question. Needless to say I said yes… albeit after saying “No Way” several times in complete shock!

We had a two year engagement and decided to get married on June 15th, 2019. Dress shopping was my favourite part of the whole wedding planning. I went to 8 shops in total and loved so many of the dresses but there was something missing! I tried on my dress in shop no. 5 but continued to shop around. After trying on more lovely dresses, I just couldn’t get my dress out of my head. As I was shopping without my Mum I found it hard to commit to a dress without her seeing it in person. I flew back to Ireland to go try it on with my Mum. Although I already knew, once she said she loved it there was no more looking! I flew back to Bristol and ordered it two days later.

Our wedding was one massive party that ran over three days of activities. We had friends and family travel from all over the world to celebrate with us which really made our day extra special! The two most important things to us was that all our guests had the best day imaginable and that our wedding represented us and our love. We wrote our own vows to each other and although we were both so nervous to say them out loud in front of everybody, looking back they are our most cherish part of the day!
