COUPLE’S WEDDING STORY:
How we met…
THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH (REALLY!)
We met at Walt Disney World! Back in 2013, we both worked at the Rose and Crown pub in Epcot’s World Showcase. We went to the Magic Kingdom on our first date to check out the Christmas decorations, then saw the movie Frozen – this was about a month before I (Kelsey) was due to complete my Disney program and return home to England… We dated long-distance for about 18 months before the opportunity came for us to move to NYC and build our life together. Then, as of May 2018, were engaged!
How he asked…
05.03.18 – MAGIC ABOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC
For our vacation in April/May 2018, we took our first Disney cruise together aboard the aptly named ship, the Disney Magic. Our last day of the trip was spent at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, riding bikes, swimming, sipping on pina coladas. Then, on our way back to the ship, we picked a spot to film a quick dance scene for our Youtube channel. We set the cameras up, danced, then John got down on one knee and proposed! It was the best day ever – and now we have it all on video to relive this special memory for years to come!
Finding the dress…
I had booked two dress appointments when my Mum came to visit me in New York from the UK. After the first appointment where I tried on the dress I THOUGHT was the one, we went to Kleinfeld where I tried on maybe 8-10 dresses over the course of an hour, none of them being quite right. Then, my final dress was brought in to the room… Mikaella 2155. I tried it on and LOVED it. It was the perfect combination of elegant, light-weight, fun and twirly (let’s not forget twirly!). After an hour or so of agonizing decision making over a coffee, my Mum and I went back that same day and purchased the Mikaella dress.
Our wedding day…
I couldn’t have loved my dress or our day any more. Living away from both our families (mine are all in the UK, John’s are in LA, the Philippines, Canada, the Bahamas and Sweden!!!), it was the first time we would be introducing them and we wanted to spend as much time celebrating and dancing with our guests as possible. Our venue was the perfect spot for that – it felt like a home with a free-flowing outdoor to indoor space and Orlando had the significance of being the city we had first met. The rain and thunderstorms held off right until our first dance so we decided to dance in the rain and we had a blast! Thank you Mikaella Bridal for the most fun, light, twirly princess dress of my dreams.
