COUPLE’S WEDDING STORY:
We met during our freshman year of college at East Carolina University through mutual friends. I made friends with some girls in my dorm who went to high school with my now husband, once we met we instantly clicked. Our friends teased us about dating for several years however we never seemed to be on the same page. During our senior year everything seemed to fall into place for us and we knew we were supposed to be together. We were very grateful we had that time to spend together as just friends, and that made the transition into dating very easy. It’s true what they say: when you know, you know!
The engagement ring was very special to us, his mom had offered us her ring from my husbands late father, which was an incredible honor for me. It was a marquise diamond and absolutely beautiful, we picked out a new setting together, but the rest was up to him! When it came time to plan the wedding, we decided to get married over Memorial Day weekend so I kept envisioning a ‘classic spring wedding’. I wanted everything to be beautiful but I didn’t want anything to look overdone or too trendy. I stuck with a feminine, light and airy color palate with white, blush, and peach. A lot of our other vendor decisions of course were centered around our budget, but we also had several friends who were professionals in the business that we wanted around us on this day. Our photographer, videographer, day of coordinator, cake baker, officiant, make up artist, and hair artist were all friends of ours before this day, and they made our day so much more special having loved ones in these roles instead of a stranger.
We also made this event personal by incorporating our history. When we met freshman year, our friends spent a ton of time playing card games together in the dorm room. So for our guest book, we had a couple decks of blank back playing cards and asked our guests to sign the blank sides. It is a tremendous space saver and was a fun way to do something different that we will actually use!
